The garden is approximately 6 acres in area. It contains a large pond (sadly unable to retain water at the moment), a rose garden that was once a tennis court, a walled garden that once provided much of the food for the household, and many other lovely areas and walks.
There is a sunken garden that we believe was originally designed by the famous Victorian garden designer James Pulham in the 1860s. Pulham was famous for creating ferneries and rockeries, and invented a new type of artificial rock, called Pulhamite. One of our plans is to find out more about this part of the garden and its history, and to restore it as much as possible. The garden is currently maintained by our Head Gardener Hamish Bett and Trooper The Dog.
